Eyelid lifting

Active soul, but tired eyes?

"It is only with the heart that one can see rightly - the essential is invisible to the eye". There might be hardly anyone who does not know this sentence from the "Little Prince" by Antoine de St. Exupery. But what if our eyes constantly feel heavy and tired, even though your heart is full of vigor and zest for action? We not only see with our eyes - we also communicate to a large extent through them. Drooping eyelids or lachrymal sacks make us look older, tired and worn out. In this case, a tightening of the upper eyelid (drooping eyelids) or the lower eyelid (lachrymal sacks) can make a significant contribution to clear vision and a fresh and radiant appearance. If you prefer a non-invasive correction of the drooping eyelids, a non-surgical eyelid lift using a laser - a Smooth Eye eyelid lift with a laser could be the solution for you.

Upper blepharoplasty

The upper eyelid lift is one of the most frequently performed plastic and aesthetic procedures. Even though the decision to have the eyelids tightened is often only made at an advanced age - young patients also benefit enormously. Excess skin on the upper eyelids and small fat cells are removed during this procedure. By placing the suture in the crease of the eyelid, the surgical scar is hardly visible later. Your eyes regain their youthful expressiveness, the gaze becomes awake and clear.

The upper eyelid correction makes sense if you:

  • Would like to get rid of drooping eyelids

  • Have sagging skin on the upper eyelids

  • Excessive skin on the eyelids affecting peripheral vision

  • Want to regain your open and alert gaze

Procedure and Recovery Time

An upper blepharoplasty can be performed under local anesthesia, during which you are conscious and only the local area is numbed, or under analgosedation, a relaxing superficial sleep anesthesia. Your specialists at sweet skin recommend that you receive the procedure under analgosedation - this way you can avoid unnecessary tension and stress during the operation.

The decision to have an operative-aesthetic procedure always means taking time for yourself. Cooling the treated areas is essential for the first 24-48 hours after surgery to reduce swelling and possible bruising. We recommend avoiding social gatherings for a week after surgery and avoiding prolonged computer sessions whenever possible. The sutures are removed 6 days after the surgical intervention. An initial wound check is also carried out to check the healing process. You should refrain from sports for a period of four weeks after the operation. The eyelids are one of the thinnest parts of the skin on the body - the suture is also so fine that it can burst open again through strong rubbing or trauma.

Lower blepharoplasty

Lachrymal sacks appear sooner or later on many people. Men are slightly more likely to suffer from droopy lower eyelids than women. They make you look older and puffy. The reason for the mostly age-related changes is a weakening of the fine skin (orbital septum), which keeps the physiological fat positioned under the eye. This causes the fat cells to bulge, and the skin on the lower eyelids becomes thinner and expands. Excess, thinned skin (the so-called lachrymal sacks) as well as fat can be removed by means of a lower eyelid lift. The intervention can restore a clear structure of the lower eyelids. With a lower eyelid lift, the incision is made about 1 mm below the edge of the eyelid. After a few weeks, the suture is no longer visible. The result is a clear, radiant and relaxed expression. If you prefer a non-invasive correction of the bags under your eyes, a non-surgical laser lift of the lower eyelids is an alternative solution.

The lower eyelid correction makes sense if you:

  • Have excess skin and bulging fat on the lower eyelids

  • Have lachrymal sacks under your eyes

  • Are planning an upper blepharoplasty and also want a correction of the lower eyelids

Procedure and recovery time

The lower eyelid lift is performed under analgosedation, a relaxing superficial sleep anesthesia. This light form of anesthesia makes it possible to avoid tension and stress during the operation. Undergoing an operative-aesthetic procedure also means taking time for yourself. In the first 48-72 hours after the surgery, it is essential to cool the eyelid with compresses to counteract swelling and possible bruising. Experience has shown that the swelling is greatest in the first few days after the operation and then subsides quickly. We recommend avoiding social gatherings for about 10 days after the operation and avoiding extended sessions on the computer if possible. The postoperative swelling temporarily changes the blinking behavior of the eye, which is exposed to particular stress when working on the computer. As a support, mild lymphatic drainage can be started 1-2 days after the operation to promote the removal of toxins and reduce swelling. Your sweet skin team will be happy to advise you on this.

The stitches will be removed 6-7 days after the surgical procedure - an initial wound check is also done to check the healing process. You should refrain from exercising for a period of four weeks after the operation. The eyelids are one of the thinnest parts of the skin on the body - the suture is also so fine that it can burst open again through strong rubbing or trauma.

What is blepharoplasty?

Where can you get an eyelid lifting?

What do you have to consider with an eyelid lift?

A blepharoplasty is a surgical eyelid lifting for excess skin on the eyelids. The upper eyelid lift is one of the most frequently performed aesthetic plastic procedures on the face. An eyelid lift can be performed on the lower or upper eyelid. If the upper eyelid is tightened, drooping eyelids can be corrected and a youthful, relaxed expression can be created again. In the case of pronounced lachrymal sacks under the eyes, on the other hand, the lower eyelids are corrected - the face appears more dynamic and well-groomed.
