Fotona LipLase

All you need to know about non-surgical lip rejuvenation

Fotona LipLase is a non-surgical lip rejuvenation procedure that uses advanced laser technology. It significantly improves the appearance of the lips by stimulating collagen production and permanently improving both the fullness, shape and texture of the lips.

Developed by Fotona, a leading manufacturer of medical and aesthetic lasers, this treatment offers a minimally invasive alternative to traditional, older methods of lip sculpting.

How LipLase works

Fotona LipLase uses two types of lasers

  1. Neodymium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet (Nd:YAG for short):

The Nd:YAG laser penetrates deep into the lip tissue, targeting the water in the skin and heating the dermis, causing controlled thermal injury. This process stimulates collagen production and skin remodeling, resulting in increased volume and firmness of the lips.

  1. Erbium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet (Er:YAG):

The Er:YAG laser, on the other hand, works on the superficial layer of the lips to gently renew and rejuvenate the skin, improve texture and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles around the lips.

The combination of these two laser wavelengths provides a comprehensive treatment that improves both the structure and appearance of the lips.

These are the advantages of LipLase treatment for sweet skin

  • Long-lasting results: Although a few sessions are required for optimal results, LipLase offers long-lasting results that can be maintained with regular booster treatments. The duration of results may vary depending on individual factors such as age, lifestyle and skin quality.

  • Non-surgical and minimally invasive: Fotona LipLase offers a non-surgical option for those who want to improve the aesthetics of their lips without surgery or injections. This makes it an attractive choice for individuals who wish to avoid invasive procedures or have contraindications to traditional lip enhancement methods.

  • Minimal risk of complications without allergic reactions: Compared to fillers, there is no risk of an allergic reaction with LipLase, as no foreign substance is administered into the body.

  • Safe for most skin types: Fotona LipLase treatment is suitable for a wide range of skin types and tones, using precise laser settings that minimize the risk of hyperpigmentation or scarring.

  • Natural looking results: The treatment stimulates the body's own collagen production, which leads to a gradual and natural-looking improvement in the volume, shape and texture of the lips. Since after the treatment, you gain volume only gradually, day by day, it is less obvious that you have undergone treatment.

  • Minimum downtime: Fotona LipLase requires little or no downtime, so patients can return to their normal activities soon after the procedure. There may be some mild swelling or redness, but these side effects usually subside within a few hours to a few days.

What lip issues can be treated with LipLase?

Fotona LipLase can treat all the problems that are also combated with fillers, such as:

  • Loss of lip definition: the treatment can improve the lip line and shape, giving them a more defined and youthful appearance.

  • Thin or uneven lips: LipLase can increase the volume of the lips, giving them a fuller and more balanced appearance.

  • Fine lines and wrinkles: It can smooth vertical lines around the lips, also called smoker's lines, giving a rejuvenated appearance.

  • Age-related volume loss: By stimulating collagen production, LipLase can help restore the lips' natural fullness and firmness, counteracting the effects of aging.

Who is a suitable candidate for Fotona LipLase?

LipLase is suitable for a wide range of ages, typically from mid-20s to 65+. Younger patients may undergo LipLase treatment to treat naturally thin lips or achieve a more balanced facial appearance, while older patients may choose this treatment to counteract age-related volume loss, fine lines and wrinkles.

If any of the following apply to you, you are probably not suitable for LipLase treatment:

  • You are pregnant or breastfeeding.

  • You expect immediate, drastic results.

  • You have skin problems or infectious areas on your face.

  • You suffer from an autoimmune disease.

Procedure of a LipLase treatment

  1. Initial consultation: Before undergoing LipLase treatment, you will have a consultation with a qualified practitioner at sweet skin to discuss your specific lip-related issues, aesthetic goals and medical history. The practitioner will evaluate your lip shape, volume and skin quality to determine if LipLase is the appropriate treatment for you. He will also discuss potential risks with you and answer any questions you may have.

  2. Cleaning and anesthesia: The practitioner will first thoroughly clean your lips and the surrounding skin to remove makeup, lip balm, dirt and grease. If necessary, we can apply a topical anesthetic or numbing cream so that you do not feel any pain during the procedure.

  3. Nd:YAG laser: The practitioner uses the Fotona laser device to deliver Nd:YAG laser energy to the deeper layers of the lip tissue. This step targets the water content in the dermis, gently heats the area and stimulates collagen production. The Nd:YAG laser also helps to improve the volume and firmness of the lips.

  4. Er:YAG laser: After Nd:YAG treatment, the practitioner switches to Er:YAG laser mode. This step gently removes the outer layer of the lips, improves their texture and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles around the mouth.

  5. Cooling and soothing: After the laser treatment is complete, the practitioner may apply a cooling gel or ice pack to the lips to minimize discomfort, redness or swelling.
