Benign skin tumors

Benign skin tumors are found in almost everyone. They mainly include:

  • Mechanically or aesthetically disturbing moles on the face and body.

  • Histiocytomas

  • Lipomas

  • Cysts

In contrast to white or black skin cancer, they neither destroy tissue nor form offshoots. Often, however, the nodes are mechanically or visually disturbing. Sometimes they become inflamed and painful - this is especially the case with cysts. In this case, surgical removal is the treatment of choice. A subsequent histological analysis of the findings is standard at sweet skin to guarantee the high-quality standards we set for ourselves.

Benign skin tumors can almost always be excised under local anesthesia. After complete removal of the offending tissue in or under the skin, careful wound closure is performed. The subcutaneous layers are adapted by inserting so-called subcutaneous sutures, i.e. perfectly matched to each other. Only then does the skin suture take place. The insertion of subcutaneous sutures enables optimal wound healing, as they can reduce the tension on the actual skin suture significantly. The subcutaneous sutures dissolve by themselves from a few weeks to 6 months, depending on the suture selected.

The skin sutures usually need to be removed after 7-14 days, depending on the area on the body where the surgery took place. The skin on the face heals much faster than on the body. For as long as the stitches are in the skin, you should refrain from swimming pool visits and sauna sessions, and do not engage in any sweaty activities to ensure optimal wound healing. Fresh wounds must be protected from sunlight at all costs. For optimal scar care after surgery, your specialists at sweet skin will be happy to advise you.
